Volunteer With Us!

Volunteers are an integral part of our organisation and are essential across all of the programs and services that we provide. We can never have too many volunteers!  

 

See below to read more about the different volunteer opportunities available. However, if none of these suit your skills or availabilities, contact us directly as we often have new opportunities arising or upcoming events that we may need support with.

Volunteer Opportunities

Brighter Beginnings Bus Program - Volunteer Drivers

If you have a spare few free hours in the morning, are a confident driver and enjoy meaningful work then we need you. We are in need of volunteer drivers who are available to drive our 8-seater vehicle on weekday mornings, from 7:40am - 9am. Full unrestricted drivers license required for role.

Volunteer Wellbeing Workers 

Wanted for our Bus program on weekday mornings. This role supports vulnerable children within the Newcastle community in getting to school each day and requires you to help facilitate bus pick ups from 7:45am-9am in the morning. We're looking for caring and relational volunteers with background in wellbeing to help organise primary school aged children onto the private shuttle bus and off to school.

Doorstop Deliveries of Essential Goods

Each Tuesday morning we receive food deliveries from Oz Harvest. These deliveries are sorted, packed and delivered to community members doorstops by volunteers. These deliveries are an opportunity for volunteers to check in on isolated community members, offer a friendly chat and support.Volunteers needed to facilitated this on Tuesdays from about 10am - 2pm.

Backyard Brekky

Each Tuesday morning we host a free breakfast in the backyard of our offices, everyone is welcome. Volunteers support this program by helping with the breakfast set up, pack down and preparing of food. This breakfast is a safe space for community members to come and get further support, volunteers are encouraged to sit with those who attend, listen to their stories, have a friendly chat and link them to help where needed.

Inspire Women

Inspire is an adult resilience and education program, that empowers women to move forward into a better life for themselves and their families. Volunteers support the group facilitator to run activities, connect with the women who attend and assist with set up/pack down.

 

All Volunteers require the following:​

  • Volunteer WWC 

  • To complete our online 'new role' form  

  • Flexibility and an empathic, positive and non-judgemental attitude
