In our dynamic and continually evolving society, it is crucial to emphasise the cultivation of resilience and leadership skills among young people.
This term, LIVEfree Project had the privilege of launching the GRIT Mentoring Program at one of our partner schools thanks to our partnership with Sisters of Charity. Dedicated to empowering boys and teenagers, the program employs a comprehensive approach aimed at fostering resilience and leadership potential.
Exploring the GRIT Program
At the heart of the GRIT Mentoring Program lies the acronym GRIT itself – Grounded, Respect, Integrity, Trust. This comprehensive mentoring initiative is designed to guide participants towards becoming confident, responsible, and compassionate individuals. Through a series of structured themes and topics, the program delves into various aspects of personal growth, resilience, and positive relationship building, equipping participants with essential life skills and values.

Themes That Inspire Growth
The program covers a diverse array of themes, each aimed at fostering different facets of personal development. From exploring identity and purpose to understanding healthy relationships and embracing challenges for growth, the GRIT program offers a rich tapestry of experiences designed to inspire self-discovery and promote meaningful engagement within communities.
Highlights of Progress
One of the most rewarding aspects of facilitating the GRIT program is witnessing the tangible growth and development among its participants. Throughout this term, the group of Stage 3 boys engaged in the program has showcased remarkable progress through insightful conversations, personal reflections, and an enhanced understanding of themselves and others.
 Emotion Drum Lessons
Among the many highlights of this term's GRIT journey, the Emotion Drum lessons stand out as a particularly engaging and impactful experience.
Through these sessions, each participant has had the opportunity to learn and master skills related to emotional regulation – a crucial aspect of personal development. This will be seen at the upcoming showcase at assembly, which will show their dedication and progress in this regard.

Looking Ahead
As this GRIT group draws to a close, it's evident that the program has made a impact on its participants. As an educator, it has been a privilege to witness the growth and transformation within this group of boys. Looking forward, we are excited about the prospect of welcoming a new cohort of participants and continuing the journey of empowerment and growth through the GRIT program as we work in local schools.
