CONGRATULATIONS CHRIS JONES!

The Founder and Director of LIVEfree Project has officially been announced as a Westfield Local Hero 😱

Thank you so much to everyone who voted for Chris!! You made this dream a reality, so from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!

If you don't know Chris, then you should know that she is an amazing woman who has been helping people in need across Newcastle for over 30 years, she is selfless, inclusive and generous.

“There is something sacred about being invited into someone’s pain or struggle. This gift is never lost on me,” says Chris.

Chris genuinely cares for others and is passionate about helping people to reach their unique potential. Chris lives by the motto 'There's always room for one more'.

A crucial part of her work is to show vulnerable people that they are cared for and heard.

Chris was delighted to be nominated as a Westfield Local Hero, “The opportunity to be a part of such a widely recognised award in our local community just thrills my heart. I feel deeply moved to know that people in the community see what we do and recognise it as valuable".

Chris is honoured to be announced as a Westfield Local Hero and so are we, because this means that with the support of Westfield Kotara, LIVEfree Project can now reach more families within our community, at this crucial time.

Thanks to the community grant of $10,000 that comes with the title of Westfield Local Hero, LIVEfree Project is now able to provide holistic support to 30 local families affected by domestic and family violence. This means that 30 families will be supported through:

  • Crisis Supplies

  • Regular RUOK Wellbeing Check ins

  • Transport to medical, dental and legal appointments

  • Weekly deliveries of groceries and other essential goods through our Doorstop deliveries program

  • Wellbeing Resources

  • Advocacy to other support services and organisations

This will mean that families who are vulnerable due to domestic and family violence will be connected with the services they need, have a support person on the journey with them and help to get to a place of physical and emotional safety for themselves and their children.

Thank you to Westfield for your incredible community initiative and support and thank you to Chris, our Project Director for your vision and heart in all things.
